SIBO “POSTER #001” (2023–)

This is a poster work using “artificial sibori logs” from Kitayama, Kyoto.
Artificial sibori logs were originally invented as a design material for tokonoma (alcove). Reinterpreting it from the perspective of graphic design, we found a completely new value in it by using letterpress printing techniques.
The poster is made by applying ink to a 1,500-mm-long log and rolling it with two people, printing it in the manner of “fish prints”.
Since each piece is printed by hand, no two pieces are alike in terms of the degree of gradation, angles, and subtle splashes of ink. The uneven three-dimensional effect of the ink is also a characteristic that cannot be expressed by ordinary printing.
The design of #001 is based on the smallest unit of a log, “one round”. It looks like a row of large trees or a bold stroke of a brush. This poster, which combines elegance with a blank space and vigor and strength, is sure to be an eye-catching piece in any room.

SIBO『POSTER #001』（2023–）

京都北山の「人工絞り丸太」を用いたポスター作品です。
人工絞り丸太は、本来は床の間の意匠材として発明された木材。それをグラフィックデザインの視点で再解釈し、凸版印刷の手法によって全く新しい価値を見出しました。
このポスターは、1500mm長の丸太にインキを塗布し、二人がかりで転がしながら「魚拓」の要領でプリントして作られます。
1枚1枚手刷りするため、掠れ具合や角度、微妙なインキのハネなど一つとして同じ個体がありません。インキの不均一な立体感も、通常の印刷では表現できない持ち味となっています。
#001は丸太「1周分」という最小単位を写し取ったデザインです。大木が立ち並ぶようにも、どこか豪快な筆のストロークのようにも見えます。余白のある上品さと勢いある力強さを両立したこのポスターは、部屋の中で一際目を引く一枚になるに違いありません。
